A warm welcome and a raft of new products awaits visitors to the SCH (Supplies) stand at SALTEX
The new product line include a special grooming tool for use on sand filled artificial sports surfaces. The rake can be towed by a low powered ride on mower type tractor. An optional smoothing brush can be fitted to the rear of the unit to give the surface a well groomed look as well as levelling the sand into the surface. Top weight can be added to the rake to give deeper penetration when required. The unit is supplied as standard in 1200mm working width. Other widths are able to be constructed. To avoid any plucking damage to the surface when the rake is turned, at row ends ‘dipping’ blocks are fitted to the leading corners. The rake tines are easily and at a low cost replaced when required.
SCH have also developed a new adaptation to their popular De-Compaction Rake (DCR), specifically to combat problems of algae build up at the base of 3G sports surfaces. These surfaces can be prone to ‘caking’ together below the visible area, and if not regularly maintained with the application of suitable treatments, and combing through to loosen the material, can attract algae and begin to degrade.
A 70 litre tank dispenses algaecide via a dribble bar. A row of heavy duty scarifying tines follow immediately, de-compacting and opening the surface up to allow the liquid to penetrate and begin its essential work. A pair of levelling bars and a brush then follows to provide the necessary grooming and finish. The unit can be towed or 3 point mounted. The standard model has a working width of 1.3 meters, with an overall width of 1.7 meters. SCH say they can supply various widths, and suggest a call to their offices to discuss available sizes or any other bespoke specification changes the customers may require. The company are also keen to point out that the tank and dribble bar adaptation can be provided for customers who are already in possession of an SCH De-Compaction Rake.
One of the most popular items in the SCH range of sports surface equipment is the Triangular Brush (Ref TMB). The brush gives a vital ‘scratch’ to artificial play surfaces between matches etc. The brush has a working width of 1500mm (60”) making the task quick and easy. The wheels on the upper side of the unit mean that by simply flipping the brush upside down, it can be easily transported back to the storage area. The Triangular Brush also forms part of a special Artificial Surface Maintenance Package, which SCH have put together. A tractor is included in the package, as are a drag mat and de-compaction combination unit.
