Director of BAGMA, Keith Christian said, "We just want to thank Chris for all he has done for the industry and we are delighted to be able to present him with this Quaich - and we hope he will share some of the contents! We wish Chris and Trish the very best".
BAGMA President, Brian Sangster read out the inscription on the Quaich which said, "In recognition of many years of service to the land-based industry. A wee dram afore ye go!"
Chris Biddle said he was overwhelmed by the gesture. "I've had a very long association with BAGMA," he said, "through my time as a dealer and then through the many years with the magazine. So to receive this cup is truly touching."
The presentation was made in Stirling following BAGMA's curling match this week. Service Dealer owner Duncan Murray-Clark said, "It is lovely to see an organisation like BAGMA recognising all that Chris has done for the industry."
A Highland Quaich is known as a 'cup of welcome' and is also used for offering a farewell drink. Being derived from the Gaelic word 'cuach' meaning 'shallow cup' the distinctive design has remained unchanged over the centuries - a shallow drinking bowl with with two handles, colloquially known as 'lugs'.
