STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® GB Team
The event takes place at the Olympiahalle in Innsbruck, today and tomorrow (Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November 2014). And Rob Chatley has got the Great British bid off to a flying start, chopping and sawing his way through a tough qualifying stage to place himself among the world's 12 elite lumberjack athletes competing for Individual Championship honours this Saturday 15th.
STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® is considered the major league of lumberjack sports worldwide, testing athletes' strength, endurance and technical ability in chopping and sawing disciplines to ultimately determine the best all-round lumberjack athlete. More than 100 athletes representing 20-plus nations are competing in both team and individual competitions at this tenth STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series World Championship 2014.
In addition to the Individual Championship, Rob will also compete in the Team event taking place on Friday 14th November. The thrilling Team event will see GB team members, Chris Pratt from Bedfordshire, Rob from Worcestershire, Simon Bond from Denbighshire and Elgan Pugh from Gwynedd, tackle four of the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines in a fast and furious relay. Each team member in turn completes one of four disciplines: the Stock Saw, Underhand Chop, Single Buck Saw and Standing Block Chop. STIHL GB wishes the Great British Team the best of luck for clean cutting and good competition in 2014.
