ONE-DAY ROBOTICS COURSE
To be held at Harper Adams

Researchers with an interest in agricultural robotics are being encouraged to attend a one-day event at Harper Adams University on August 2.

Organisers say the course aims to be an excellent opportunity for those interested in the application of robotics in the agricultural sector to develop their knowledge and understanding of the subject.

Explored during the day will be subjects such as robots, sensors, control, Software Architecture for Agricultural Robotics (SAFAR) and the innovative 'Dionysus'™ vineyard scout project.

Hosting the event is Head of Engineering at Harper Adams, Professor Simon Blackmore. He said: "Harper Adams University is already well-known as an innovator in the field of engineering.

"Research and development in robotics and smart systems are all part of the work of the National Centre for Precision Farming (NCPF), based on campus. This event is just one way in which we plan to share our expertise and knowledge with the wider public."

The NCPF aims to provide information and a range of support initiatives to enable visitors to the site to gain an on-going understanding of precision farming, insight into precision farming developments and support services designed to assist farmers and associated stakeholders in applying precision farming methods.
It will soon be based at the new £2.93m Engineering Innovation Centre on campus - a facility to supplement existing resources and provide a physical base around which university/industry collaboration can be stimulated.

This one-day course is the first of many to be delivered in the areas of unmanned ground and aerial vehicles and agriculture-related sensor technologies.
