V8 POWERED CHAINSAW! For the bigger jobs in hand . . .
Australia has somewhat of an insane car culture. Much like America, they love V8 engines, they love burnouts and they love muscle cars. But Australia has been known to take the automotive-related insanity to new, unheard of levels. Take for example, this Holden V8-powered chainsaw.
The terrifying V8 chainsaw was built by Whitlands Engineering who, unsurprisingly, are the country’s leading manufacturer of wood processing machinery. The idea came to them after seeing something similar in New Zealand and decided they could do a better job. So they acquired a 4.2 liter Holden V8, last seen in the 1985 WB Ute, and finagled it to power a cutting chain.
Want one of these serial tree-killing monsters? Too bad. Whitlands built the V8 saw purely as a marketing exercise. They give demonstrations at local wood chop events though, where the muscle saw is frequently the main attraction.
If you live in the land down under, you can see the V8 chainsaw in action at the Australia Day woodchop event in Melbourne’s Queen Victoria gardens - or in the video below
