A WHOLE NEW WORLD
Have recent events knocked or bolstered confidence?
by Service Dealer Editor, Steve Gibbs

Steve Gibbs
Has something else happened on the news since you've started reading this?!

Probably. The pace at which the country is changing since June 23rd is quite staggering.

I guess that makes it all the more important that the rest of us just get our heads down and get on with our work to the best of our abilities. Keeping clam and carrying on seems more vital than it's been in recent memory.

But has business confidence been hit with all the drama? In the current issue of Service Dealer we have the results of our last survey which reported that 63% of dealers who responded felt either Confident or Very Confident about their business prospects for the rest of 2016.

Has this changed in recent weeks? Either for better or worse?

It would be excellent if you could help us find out by taking part in today's quick post-Brexit dealer survey please. We'd love to get a sense of how the industry is feeling in these first weeks following such a momentous shift in our country.

We are also revisiting some points surveyed this time last year, which will be interesting to compare in light of recent events. For example, are you looking to take on any new franchises? Or indeed drop any existing ones?

This time last year only 15% of respondents were in the market to expand the amount of franchises they held. Will that be even less this year? Or might dealers be thinking now's the time to be bullish and expand. And we'd like to know what factors influence your thinking when you do decide to take on new franchises.

And going forward, how will you look to attract new customers into your business? What methods are most effective for you?

Finally, as ever with our surveys, we have a included an open-ended question so you can share your views with our community. Please let us know your thoughts for your business's prospects in this post-Brexit world. Are you over the moon now that we are no longer to be in the European Union? Or are you worried for what the future might hold? Feel free to express your opinions.

We will publish the results and your comments in the next issue of Service Dealer.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to contribute.
