MUST BE THE ULTIMATE AMBITION!
Using the Lord's Pavilion as my office today!

Chris Biddle
This must be the ultimate ambition!

Writing this brief editorial and completing today’s newsletter from the pavilion at Lord's watching the Test against New Zealand. For the first time, Lords has installed Wi-Fi available throughout the ground, so I might just have to ask about office space!

A virtually full-house yesterday were treated to a day of real Test cricket after all the biff-bash of the 20/20 and the IPL in India (the sound of Geoffrey Boycott purring could be heard throughout the ground).

A few ales yesterday to celebrate my 50th year of MCC membership - and as ever the ground is looking fantastic.

The groundstaff have had a miserable time dodging rain, hail and even snow whilst they got the playing surface ready, and as ever they are the unsung heroes for presenting the ground in such a pristinne condition.

There had obviously been more grass left on the outfield yesterday as boundaries were hard to find, but that’s called turf management - for Lord's has many other big occasions to stage this year such as an Ashes Test - and grass as a living, breathing surface, needs plenty of TLC

And just to prove this is ‘live’ - as I sign off before noon, England are 184-4.
