. . . AND FINALLY
A half-cut solution?
On a recent visit fo Midland Power, John McGhee produced this can of Lawnmower Amber Lager (4.8%) which follows hard on the heels of other mower related brew such as Stroud Brewery's Budding Beer.
It is a craft beer brewed in the backyard of Falkenberg Brewery in Sweden, a Carlsberg company. It is available at a number of outlets in the UK including Tesco (£1.25 per can).
It is described as a 'loud and noisy taste, refreshingly balanced, fresh hopped like a summer mowed lawn'.
Reviewing the beer, an on-line beer review site says "I don't want to give the game away but the best thing about this beer is the look of the can. It would look right at home in the fridges of a trendy US craft beer bar and triggers happy thoughts of Oskar Blues. The marketing team at Carlsberg Sweden have obviously done their research well. Once out of the can the beer pours the promised amber, intensely bright with a foamy bleached white head."Any hope that the beer would live up to the packaging disappears when you smell it. Dusty stench of boxes of old comics you find in the attic. Faint waft of malt loaf. The ingredient list features two of the stinkiest aroma hops from the USA (Cascade and Amarillo) but I struggle to place them. This lawn mower's running on empty."
There is no doubt that the packaging is the best aspect (with comments such 'Serve colder than a mother-in-law's love') but as the can remains unopened at the moment, I am unable to comment of the taste.
