MF SPONSORS KILIMANJARO CLIMB
Completed by team of 8 from food and farming industry

Kilimanjaro

Massey Ferguson has given its full support to the National Farmers Union’s climb to the summit of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the charity Farm Africa. The NFU Africa 100 team reached the peak on 5 October after a gruelling six-day trek.

“As a headline Gold Sponsor of this exciting NFU initiative, we were thrilled to hear that the team had conquered the summit ,” says Campbell Scott, Massey Ferguson Brand Development Manager.

The NFU’s Africa 100 team included eight intrepid explorers from across the food and farming industry who embarked on the 19,000 ft ascent on 29 September. Along with the personal challenge to climb what is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, the team spearheaded a fundraising effort for Farm Africa which works towards a prosperous rural Africa through the empowerment of smallholder farmers.

“Farm Africa does fine work helping farmers employ the best techniques to develop their agricultural enterprises in a continent where sustainable food production lies at the heart of future economic prosperity and security,” continues Campbell Scott.  “With our straightforward and dependable equipment, Massey Ferguson has been serving African farmers for over 65 years and continues to make major investments there to support the development of farm mechanisation.”

£50 could provide enough disease-resistant seeds for an acre of land, £200 could provide a community with a drip irrigation system and £300 could make livestock vaccinations a reality for rural pastoralist communities.
