AND FINALLY . . . US dealership selling 70 snow blowers A DAY!
NEW ENGLAND dealership, Granz Turf Depot, based in Salem, has sold almost 1500 snow blowers in three weeks, averaging around 70 a day.
Almost as fast as they can be assembled, snow blowers are being wheeled out the door, purchased by residents who've had their fill of winter.
Steve Hebert of Granz says, “They’re cold. They’re sore and they are sick of the snow. What was an expensive, out-of-reach purchase is becoming a must-have.”
Employees from the warehouse to the front counter have collectively put in hundreds of extra hours of overtime dealing with what is an unprecedented event. Granz has another 300 snow blowers en route from suppliers but that will probably be it for the winter season. “That will be good. We need a break. We’re hoping it does warm up and get on to spring,” added Steve Hebert.
A slow-moving winter storm delivered heavy snow and near blizzard conditions to a large swath of the mid-west and eastern States of the US earlier this month.
Winter storm Linus put Chicago area's more than 9 million people under a blizzard warning and another 65 million people were also under a winter storm warning across 18 states.
Heavy snow fell simultaneously all the way from eastern Nebraska to central Pennsylvania, a distance of more than 1,100 miles.
