DESCHAMPS BLAMES AC/DC FOR POOR EURO PITCH
Stadium in Marseille had hosted concert

French manager Didier Deschamps has blasted the state of the pitch the French beat Albania on last week, blaming a recent concert by rock band AC/DC.

The pitch at the Stade Velodrome during France vs Albania last week visibly cut up

The concert was held at the Stade Velodrome on May 13 and Deschamps was furious that it was so close to the start of the tournament.

French midfielder Paul Pogba and other players were seen slipping on the Velodrome turf and chunks were clearly cut up in France's 2-0 Group A win over Albania last Wednesday.

Deschamps said, "It's not surprising, if there's an AC/DC concert before the Euros...that's not going to help the game and it will result in more technical mistakes.

"When I saw the photos and videos after the concert, I thought I was on another planet. You have no right to do that."

England played their opening draw against Russia there, whilst Iceland and Hungary were prevented from training on the pitch ahead of their match on Saturday.

UEFA responded to the cricitism saying that the concert didn't have an impact as the turf was replaced after.

The stadium still has to host a quarter and a semi final.
