550+ DEALERS SIGNED UP TO GARDEN TRADER
40,000 page impressions last month
The Garden Trader website, which introduces independent specialist garden machinery dealers to the buying public, is going from strength to strength.

Having launched from a standing start in February this year, last month the site received over 40,000 page impressions. Because of the targeted promotional campaign, each person visiting the site is specifically searching for a product or service supplied by a garden machinery specialist.

The site's owner, Duncan Murray-Clarke, who also owns Service Dealer, said, "To offer an idea of the site’s effectiveness, all populated listings have healthy traffic but the top performing individual dealers (mentioning no names) have appeared over 7,000 times on either product or location searches or dealer listings. Taking one dealer as an example, 180 people will have viewed that personal dealer page and 52 potential customers would have clicked through to the dealer’s own website."

Duncan says that based on the statistics the site has enjoyed thus far, the team are conservatively predicting that over the course of a year the top performing dealers registered on Garden Trader would see:
  • 21,000 appearances in searches/listings
  • 540 views of their personal dealer page on Garden Trader
  • 156 referrals through to their own website
This success in attracting significant numbers of visitors to the site has seen both Briggs & Stratton and STIHL GB renew their sponsorship of Garden Trader. "I would like to thank them both for their continuing support of this industry initiative," said Duncan.

Ever more visitors are being encouraged to visit the site, and indeed to make repeat visits, via a targeted social media campaign and a regularly updated advice blog on the site entitled Garden Mow-How.

Another essential element of Garden Trader's appeal, believes Duncan, is its ability to help the smaller independent dealer take on the might of the chain-stores and the internet-only retailers. "Garden Trader is helping dealers collectively take on these goliaths who have massive marketing budgets," he says, "whilst at the same time giving customers access to the best advice and support for their garden machinery."

Garden trader are still offering free listings for the rest of 2017 for dealers. They say if dealers with a specialist garden equipment offering are not yet signed up then it is not too late for the season.

Online registration takes just a couple of minutes and is all free of charge this year. "It could really help raise a dealership's profile," says Duncan.

Duncan also has a message for the dealers who have already signed up, stressing how important it is to make sure that their listing is fully populated with images, logos and company details. "We are noticing a real difference in popularity for those dealers who have included content such as this on their page."
