COLIN GALE RETIRES
Following 41 years in the industry

Colin Gale, Marketing and Product Manager at Central Spares, retires today after 41 years in the lawnmower industry.

Newly appointed Sales Manager Steve Wroe (right) presents a compact digital camera and John Lewis gift card to Colin Gale on his last day

Colin, who joined Flymo-owned J.T.Lowe in 1971, has enjoyed a busy career working for the Flymo subsidiary, moving to Wheel Horse and then Toro consumer, followed by Allen Power Equipment and for the last decade Central Spares.

Commenting to Service Dealer, Colin said that working in the industry had many challenges in the way consumers bought lawnmowers, remembering that in 1971 all Flymo mowers had to be demonstrated and the maximum permitted discount was just 2.5%.

Colin has made many friends within the trade, both dealers and suppliers, in addition to many international suppliers and distributors.

"The retirement gift of a camera will be really handy in my retirement," said Colin. "I undertook a writing course recently with a view to reviewing products on behalf of manufacturers and hopefully magazines.

"The gift card will assist develop my barbecue accessories, as I intend to undertake more al-fresco eating. Weather permitting of course - just like the mower industry!"
