MST EXPAND MF TERRITORY
Move into North Devon and Somerset

MST Group has announced an expansion of its Massey Ferguson territory which sees it move into new franchise areas covering North Devon and most of Somerset.

MST already has two large depots, one in Lee Mills near Plymouth and one in Tiverton, and is the biggest Massey Ferguson dealer in Devon, meaning the addition of North Devon and Somerset to its network makes it the manufacturer's largest dealer in the South West and one of the biggest in the UK.

In addition to its coverage in south and mid Devon, MST now has responsibility for the area from North Devon up through Bridgwater and into North Somerset, and from Yeovil in South Somerset all the way to the Mendips near Bristol Airport.

To support the two new franchises MST is currently finalising plans to open a new depot facility in south Somerset, which should be ready by early 2018. Until then, Massey Ferguson customers in Somerset and North Devon will be supported by MST's mid Devon facility in Tiverton.

MST has been a Massey Ferguson dealer since the 1940s and is one of the longest-running agricultural machinery dealerships in the country, with a reputation built on providing excellent services delivered by skilled, knowledgeable staff.

Nigel Godefroy, Director at MST, said: "This positive news strengthens the whole of our business and provides us with the critical mass needed to succeed and enhances our ability to invest in our agricultural business and support existing and new customers alike."

Fellow director Simon Foster said “This is extremely positive news for our company and represents the largest structural change in our region for the supply of agricultural machinery for many years. MST's strong market share performance, alongside our depth and experience of management, meant we were able to demonstrate the company was well placed to take on additional territory."

As with the company's Devon-based depots the new facility will sell the full range of Massey Ferguson products as well as other complementary agricultural and ground care lines.

The project to open the new depot in Somerset and launch MST's stewardship of the Massey Ferguson franchise in the county will be managed by Matt Hellyer, MST's After Sales Director, and Mark Lyes, the company's Agricultural Sales Manager, who will build the new team and set up the physical infrastructure within the new depot.

The move has inevitably impacted on neighbouring dealer Compass Tractors who currently represent MF in North Devon and Cornwall. It is believed that Compass are now in a notice period for MF and will now focus on Fendt along with their other franchises in the future.

Nigel Godefroy and fellow director Simon Foster acquired Medland, Sanders and Twose, along with Parkins Industrial Supplies (MST Group) in July 2012 through their business investment group Longhouse. It was the first acquisition for Plymouth-based Longhouse who have since acquired a roofing company in the South West.
