LAST EVER HAYLINERS MEETING
Association of former New Holland employees
This year the Hayliners, the association of former New Holland emplyees, will be holding their meeting on Sunday 20 March.
It will also mark the 30th Anniversary of the very first meeting and formation of The Hayliners as an organisation.
Mike Hughes of the Hayliners' Steering Committee said, "The Hayliners has now been in existence more years than New Holland traded in Aylesbury. Quite remarkable but due, in most part, to the strong bonds of friendship forged between New Holland employees over the years.
"Nevertheless, as time marches on, it becomes inevitable that fewer people are able to join us for our annual get-together in Aylesbury. Many ex-employees are no longer fit enough to join us. For those who live far from Aylesbury, the journey becomes increasingly difficult and the overnight accommodation, an extra expense."For these reasons, we felt our 30th Anniversary should be a bumper celebration - but also the very last Hayliners Lunch. Rather than watch a slow running-down of numbers attending year on year, we felt it would be more appropriate to go out on a high."
Mike continued, "We say to all our regulars - we know we can count on you! To those who come occasionally - this one's the occasion! To others who've said over the years they fully intend to come "next year" - this is the year and definitely your last chance! People have been asking after you and would love to catch up with your news. Come and join us and help us make it a great celebration of our 30 years!"
As an added incentive, the usual £14 buffet lunch will be reduced to £12 per head, courtesy of Hayliner funds. Each person will also receive an allocation of raffle tickets free of charge on the day.
The lunch will take place at Foxhill Indoor Bowls Club, Aylesbury. Contact Mike Hughes on mike@stethelberts.com
